– The American Iron and Steel
Institute (AISI) has been honored with the American
Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE)
Champion of Industrial Energy Efficiency Award for Achievement
in Promoting Energy-Efficient Economies in the category
covering Industrial Leadership. The award, presented at
the 2009 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry
in Niagara Falls, NY, recognizes leadership and accomplishment

Significant
Downturn in Nonresidential Construction Activity Projected
through 2010 |

WASHINGTON
– July 13, 2009 – Feeling the effects of the
struggling overall U.S. economy, nonresidential construction
spending is expected to decrease by 16 percent in 2009
and drop by another almost 12 percent in 2010 in inflation
adjusted terms. Commercial projects will see the most
significant decrease in activity. In contrast, most institutional
building categories are expected to see much more modest

Sales Rise 11 Percent In June |
| |
Sales
of newly built, single-family homes rose 11 percent in
June to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 384,000 units,
according to U.S. Commerce Department numbers released
today. Coming on the heels of an upwardly revised number
for May, the gain marks a third consecutive month of improved
