A call for papers is now underway for the 2010 International Symposium on Steel Structures to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on September 20-22, 2010. All abstracts need to be submitted before November 9, 2009.

The Symposium will address design issues and research related to steel structures, representing an opportunity for those in the industry to share advances in methods and materials. However, social and cultural features will also be addressed. Some of the topics to be offered at the Symposium include:

• Sustainability
• Urban context
• Steel structures in relation to architectural functions and forms.
• Structural issues such as stability, connections, constructional issues, ultimate load design, wide effect, and earthquake resistance
• Seismic isolation and vibration control
• Fire
• Spatial structures
• Composite solutions
• Cold-formed steel structures
• Codes, and
• Case studies

Steel Structures 2010: Culture and Sustainability is organized by the European Convention for Construction Steelwork and the Turkish Construction Steelwork Association. The organizers have established a scientific board of experts in steel construction from around the world, including prominent cold-formed steel researchers from North American.

Abstracts must be written in English using 12 point Times New Roman fonts and should be submitted in MS Word. Other information to be included in the abstracts include name of the author, and other contact information such as address, telephone, and fax number. Each abstract should be submitted via email to sscs2010@tucsa.org.
