Structural panel
markets weakened amid stagnant sales. A number of OSB
producers had panels available for quick shipment, and
they struggled to entice buyers into the market. As
a result, prices weakened in most regions. Slow sales
prompted Southern Pine plywood mills on the eastside
to lower quotes early. When sales stayed sluggish, some
mills opened to larger counters. Indifference permeated
the western Fir plywood market. Political and economic
news paralyzed many traders.
