At the request of the Code Officials Association of Alabama (COAA), the Steel Framing Alliance (SFA) will sponsor “Design and Inspection of Cold-Formed Steel Structures” from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 10 as part of the association’s annual Education Conference and Vendors Show. The SFA’s five-hour expanded training seminar will kick off the educational programming of the show, which is scheduled for Sept. 9-12 at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Ala.

Beginning with an introduction to steel framing, “Design and Inspection of Cold-Formed Steel Structures” will cover the manufacturing process, steel framing members, tools and fasteners, construction methods, and field inspections. Other topics featured will include codes and standards, specifications, the Universal Designator system for identification, corrosion protection, and floor, foundation, wall and roof systems, and more.

The seminar is recommended for building code officials, inspectors and plan review personnel, as well as architects, engineers and builders. Presenters include Maribeth Rizzuto, SFA’s Director of Education and Sustainable Construction and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional; and Nader Elhajj, P.E., FrameCAD Solutions.
