Commercial and Mixed-Use Projects Spring Up In Madison County, Miss.

By Ernie Casados

While most of Madison County’s recent growth has taken place along the intersection of I-55 and Mississippi 463, developers are also looking to breathe some new life into the U.S. 51 area.

Meanwhile, work on the six-acre Madison Station Shopping Center is underway with plans to update the boxy, brown building into an upscale retail center that ties into the city’s plans to create a town center nearby.

Across the street, the $150 million to $200 million Madison Square project calls for a boutique hotel, retail space, restaurants and high-end condominiums. This project, which is being developed by Kerioth Corp., will be situated on the 17-acre site of the old Madison Station Elementary School at the intersection of U.S. 51 and Main Street. The development will also include a new city hall, fine arts center and open space for outdoor festivals.
