SFA To Meet Steel Framing Training
Request For Louisiana Building Officials
Following an overview of cold-formed steel presented
this winter to the Building Officials Association of
Louisiana (BOAL), the Steel Framing Alliance (SFA) will
provide an expanded training session at the request
of the association during their quarterly training meeting
scheduled for May 15th. The SFA joins the Louisiana
Municipal Association in co-sponsoring this five-hour
session, which is recommended for building code officials,
inspectors and plan review personnel, as well as architects,
engineers and builders.
Beginning with an introduction to steel framing, “Design
and Inspection of Cold-Formed Steel Structures”
will cover the manufacturing process, steel framing
members, tools and fasteners, construction methods and
field inspections. Other topics featured in this comprehensive
4 ½-hour training will include codes and standards,
specifications, the Universal Designator system for
identification, corrosion protection, and floor, foundation,
wall and roof systems, and more.
The training will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
immediately following BOAL’s quarterly board meeting
at the Council Chamber of Eastbank, 1221 Elmwood Park
Blvd., Harahan, La. Box lunches will be provided by
the SFA. Pre-registration is required and will not be
available at the door.
Overnight hotel accommodates are available at Sleep
Inn & Suites in Metarie, La., at $79 per night when
referencing BOAL.
To register, contact (318) 795-4223 or send an email
with the attendee’s name, company name or jurisdiction,
and phone number to Carole Preston at carole.preston@isus.edu.
